FAQs

  • Here are some notes to help guide your sizing selection. Feel free to layer and play with backdrops in multiple colors and sizes.

    5’x8’:

This size works great for head shots, product photography, or for full length portraiture where you like to see some of the set/background. Super easy to fold or roll up and throw into a tote bag for easy transport.

    8’x11’:

Most versatile size for full length photography. This size can also be hung lower so that it drapes onto the floor to create a “sweep.” This sizing has lots of potential to play with to experiment with different drapes to create textured. Also folds or rolls up easily and fits into a tote bag.

    13’x15’:

Great for larger group portraits and weddings/events. Note that this size has two seams. A bit larger/heavier to fold, hang and transport.

  • The best part about Goldy Way backdrops is that you can create an “instant studio” anywhere! Use two clamps and clamp the two corners to a door frame, fence post, window ledge, or drape your backdrop over a tree branch outdoors! Use a backdrop kit for a more secure studio-like setup!

You can now also order a pole pocket to be sewn into your backdrop order. The pole pocket is 4" wide and is reinforced with a layer of muslin. It makes hanging your backdrop from a backdrop stand a breeze- you can easily hang your backdrop to drape perfectly smooth, or scrunch it up to add ruching.

  • Backdrops are 100% cotton canvas and are machine washable. Machine wash cold and dry on low for best results. Wash separately the first few times, as colors may bleed.

Store your backdrop rolled up, folded, or crumpled for a more lived-in look. Experiment with different looks when you crumple, fold, or steam out your backdrop.

  • The easiest way to get wrinkles out is to throw your backdrop in the dryer for 10 or 15 minutes. Or- use a steamer once your backdrop is hung.

  • All backdrops (with the exception of Ivory) are dyed using Fiber Reactive Dyes. Fiber reactive dyes are a subset of low-impact dyes. These are synthetic dyes that molecularly bond with the fabric, creating colorfast and long-lasting shades. The end result is a non-toxic dye that’s permanently bonded with the fiber, making the dye an integral part of the fabric. Fiber reactive dyes are approved by the Global Organic Textile Standards with their clean dye procedures and low heavy metal contents.
